Maximillian Kuhn

Maximilian Kuhn is the Chief Editor of the EUCERS Strategy Paper and a Visiting Research Associate with the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS) at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London. He is also a Research Associate at the Center for Energy, Marine Transportation and Public Policy (CEMTPP); School of International Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University, New York, where he coordinates the EURASIA GAS 2030 Scenario Project.

Maximilian Kuhn specialized on EURASIA Gas, Caspian Region Studies, Energy Policy, international energy markets, and Policy Analysis for Policy Making. Prior to fulfilling his PhD, he has worked in the fields of Public Affairs and Institutional Public Relations, corporate PR, agenda setting and consulting, combining both academia and policy practice. Maximilian Kuhn has authored (with co-author Frank Umbach) a report for EUCERS on ‘Strategic Perspectives of Unconventional Gas’, tellingly subtitled ‘A game changer with implications for the EU’s energy security’.

The report, which stresses the geopolitical importance of unconventional gas and got a lot of attention in the British media. Maximilian Kuhn has in addition published various academic articles and he has extensively worked on the liberalization of the Turkish energy market and published a book on it. He is a Member of IAEE, AIPN, SPE, CASMII and of the Gulf2000 Project.
